It is a shopping street with a history of about 400 years, which began after the Dotonbori River was completed (1615) and the Ebisubashi Bridge was built. About 100 stores line a roughly 370-meter street stretching from the south end of Ebisubashi Bridge to the front of Nankai Namba Station.
From the approach to the Minami merchant district
It flourished as an approach to Imamiya Ebisu Shrine for the Toka Ebisu festival and as a gateway town to the Dotonbori theater district, with shopping streets developing toward the end of the Edo period. Many long-established stores and flagship shops that carry on the spirited tradition of Minami merchants remain today, allowing visitors to enjoy quintessential Osaka-style shopping and street food.
An arcade that is easy to walk through even on rainy days
The arcade, which underwent major renovations in 2013, received the Good Design Award. It allows for comfortable walking even on rainy days and is convenient as a walking path from Dotonbori to Namba Station.
