From kitchen knives, pots, and tableware to noren curtains, paper lanterns, and food replicas—the Sennichimae Doguyasuji Shopping Street, home to "every tool that supports food," holds the Doguyasuji Festival every autumn. In 2026, the 41st festival will be held on Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The street, usually visited by professional chefs for stocking supplies, transforms into an event venue that anyone can enjoy for the day. Admission is free.
Unique to the district of kitchenware tools, "Mr. Dogusuji"
The main attraction of the festival is "Mr. Dogusuji," a time-attack challenge using cooking utensils. Three events are prepared: cooking utensil karuta, bean picking, and a hamburger tower competition, and participants will also receive a participation prize. Detailed information and rules will be announced at the event venue on the day.
Annual "Bargain Market" and food stalls
Each shop in the shopping district is simultaneously holding its annual bargain market. A variety of items, such as cooking utensils and store supplies, will be lined up at special prices. There will also be food and beer stalls, and a Yosakoi dance performance will be held at the 10:00 opening. It is a shopping district that is thoroughly enjoyable just walking around and looking at the tools.
Grand Prize Garapon Lottery
A Garapon grand lottery will be held at the north entrance of the shopping street from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You can participate once by showing a receipt for purchases of 500 yen or more made on the same day, or by posting on social media (up to one receipt per store; you can enter as many times as you shop at different stores). Prizes include 10,000-yen, 5,000-yen, and 500-yen shopping vouchers usable at the Doguyasuji Shopping Street, as well as Yoshimoto merchandise assortments and snacks. The event will end as soon as the prizes run out.
The dates and event details vary by year. Please check the latest information on the Sennichimae Doguyasuji Shopping Street official website before visiting.
