Located just behind the Namba Grand Kagetsu, "Chitose" is a diner known as the birthplace of Osaka's famous "nikusui" (beef soup). Although it is popular enough to form lines before opening, its flavor and atmosphere are purely those of a traditional "neighborhood diner." It is a uniquely local establishment where Minami's comedy culture and food come together.
Meat udon, without the udon
The origin of the famous meat soup is said to have been when Yoshimoto Shinkigeki actor Hana Kikyō visited the restaurant on a day she was feeling a little tipsy and ordered "meat udon without noodles." The clear broth with sweet and spicy beef and half-cooked eggs is gentle yet rich, soothingly soaking into the stomach.
For the side dish, a small bowl of rice "Kodama".
A regular customer's favorite combination is "Koyomata," a dish that combines meat soup with boiled eggs in a small bowl of rice called "Koyomata." The happiness of slurping down the rice while sipping the dashi is unparalleled. Since it sells out quickly, order it early. There is also a separate branch called "Shinotsubekkan" on the 1st floor of Namba Grand Flower Moon.
