This shrine is known for its gigantic lion hall, measuring 12 meters in height and 11 meters in width. The wide-open mouth of the lion is one of the premier photo spots in the Minami area, attracting many visitors from both Japan and abroad.

Built in 1974, the Shishiden also serves as a stage. Lion dances and kagura performances are dedicated inside the large mouth, and their powerful appearances and lively festival sounds bring color to Minami's summer.
Summer festival and boat procession
During the summer festival on July 13th and 14th every year, portable shrines and dashi floats parade through Sennichimae, Dotonbori, and Ebisubashi-suji. The funatogo (boat procession), which had died out in the Edo period, was revived in 2001, and you can see the sight of the procession of boats moving along the Dotonbori River. Located just a 6-minute walk from Namba Station, right next to the bustling entertainment district, the atmosphere changes the moment you step onto the shrine grounds. Admission is free, so please drop by while exploring Minami.
