Namba Yasaka Shrine Summer Festival - Funatogyo (Boat Procession)

A majestic and atmospheric water festival where ritual boats, parishioner boats, and "dondoko" boats navigate the Dotonbori River. The boat procession was once as grand as the Tenjin Festival during the Edo period, but it ceased to be held from the mid-Edo period onwards. It was revived in 2001, after a 230-year hiatus, with the support of parishioners and local businesses.

From 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM (scheduled), over 10 boats will procession between Hiyoshibashi and Nihonbashi.
